Book Review: The Hip Heros

As a mum to a 3 year old and 6 year old, I am always on the look out for books that will not only support them in (my hope of!) learning to love reading, but also in learning about values which are important to me. As an EFT Practitioner and Yoga Instructor I am always delighted to learn of books that include positive messaging about meditation, kindness, and how to be empowered by your own powers.

The Hip Heros is the first book to be published in a new series, by author and illustrator, Ona Praderas. I first met Ona several years ago during a Yoga Teacher Trainer program. I remember her talking then about her plans for a children's book, and I am so delighted to see her vision become a reality. Ona's aim is to help explain some the different human values: Self-improvement, Happiness, Safety, Respect, Compassion, Empathy, Humility, Love, Mindfulness, to children ages 4+.

My children were captivated by the simply yet stunning illustrations of The Hip Heros. The open ended questions were perfect thought and conversation starters for my children and I to discuss their thoughts and opinions on the situations presented via The Hip Heros.

Without wanting to give away too much, the book end with a simple yet powerful reminder that I think many adults should hear, as well as children: "Trust in your powers, like every hero knows".

The Hip Heroes children's book is now available:
